The Choreographers Collaboration Project (CCP) is a modern dance company founded in 1998 by Mary Jo Smet and Janet Stormes. The company fosters the choreographic process, serves as a lab for emerging choreographers and builds collaborations with artists to inspire creativity and expand audiences for all. CCP introduces modern dance to individuals across generations, cultures, and artistic media, and presents dance performances accessible to the community. CCP has performed throughout Alexandria, VA and the Washington, D.C. area.
Since 1999, CCP has presented its own concerts as well as participated in other performances. We have collaborated with the Del Ray Artisans, the Irish Breakfast Band, and Jorge Pardo’s Yambu Ensemble. Guest artists have included Dom Pakka Chikki, Coyaba Dance Theater, DancEthos, and choreographers Lesole Maine, Meisha Bosma, Emily Crews, Daniel Burkholder, Jessica Marchant and Jocelyn Gordon. The company is strongly committed to its youth dance group and incorporating children in the dance performances. CCP offers youth and adult classes at the Mt. Vernon and Charles Houston Recreation Centers in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, VA. CCP is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and supported by individual donors, business sponsors and the Alexandria Commission for the Arts. CCP Founders: Mary Jo Smet and Janet Stormes |
